Linda Atwell has been playing piano and singing since she was five years old. With a background in classical piano,
she played the glockenspiel, clarinet & oboe in the high school concert band, and picked up the trumpet for the
marching band and immediately fell in love with brass. She is a graduate of the State University of New York at
Fredonia. While there, she continued to play trumpet in college musical pit orchestras and also picked up the guitar
and played acoustic folk guitar and sang in coffee houses and different campus & community events. Since moving to the
Dallas area, she has been a member of the Flower Mound Chamber Orchestra, the Spirit of Jazz Gospel Group, the Pecos
River Brass Big Band, a Tejano Band and various other brass ensembles. With a burning passion for music, performance
and making people happy with music, she has assembled a duo, trio, quartet, and small band ensemble and sings and plays
flugelhorn and muted trumpet doing jazz, big band show tunes, blues and classic rock. With her crystal clear alto voice
and smooth phrasing, she has been compared to Peggy Lee, Doris Day, Dinah Shore, Connie Francis, Linda Ronstadt, Karen
Carpenter and Ella Fitzgerald. What makes her unique is she is not only a vocalist, but also an instrumentalist who writes
her own arrangements.
